De Nieuwe Arts takes centre stage at the 2026 Occupational Health Days

The BG Days are the leading conference for and by occupational health physicians in the Netherlands. On 21 and 22 May, hundreds of occupational health physicians, doctors in specialist training, researchers and other professionals gathered at Papendal to learn, exchange experiences and connect with one another. As this year's main sponsor, De Nieuwe Arts was hard to miss.

From the moment visitors arrived, they were welcomed by our colleagues in the now-familiar DNA shirts. At our prominently positioned stand, we spoke with occupational health physicians, doctors in training and others interested in our work. An interactive activity, some great prizes and plenty of water bottles helped draw visitors to the stand. We also captured professional photos and footage reflecting the energy and enthusiasm of our colleagues throughout the event.

Above all, though, the BG Days were about inspiration, connection and professional development. As the largest networking event for occupational health physicians in the Netherlands, the conference once again offered an impressive programme of keynote presentations, workshops and in-depth sessions.

Day one: resilience

The theme of the first day was resilience: the ability of individuals, organisations and society to cope with change and disruption, adapt and emerge stronger.

For occupational health physicians, this is closely connected to sustainable employability, recovery, prevention and organisational health. The various sessions explored how occupational health physicians can help build resilience at an individual, organisational and societal level.

Day two: inclusion

The second day focused on inclusion. Speakers explored how exclusion, polarisation and inequality can affect health and people's ability to participate in working life.

Discussions also looked at the role occupational health physicians can play in promoting inclusive workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to participate, contribute and develop.

These themes align closely with the vision of De Nieuwe Arts. We believe in a future-proof approach to occupational health that considers both the individual and the wider system in which they work.

That's precisely why being part of the BG Days was so valuable: sharing knowledge, making new connections and joining the conversation about the future of our profession.

We look back on two inspiring days filled with new connections, great conversations and fresh insights. A big thank you to all our colleagues who helped make De Nieuwe Arts such a visible presence at the BG Days at Papendal.
